Empowering young learners to protect nature, lead with integrity, and build peaceful, climate-resilient communities through education and action.
The Green Schools Initiative (GSI) is a flagship program of Conservation Voice, designed to promote environmental education and sustainability in public schools. It seeks to create safer, cleaner, and more inclusive learning environments while equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to lead climate-resilient lives and contribute meaningfully to their communities. By integrating sustainability into the core of school life, the initiative transforms institutions into dynamic learning spaces that actively address environmental challenges while nurturing student potential. GSI provides an opportunity to design and operate energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and economically sustainable schools that support improved academic performance and well-being. The initiative aligns with the UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development Framework (ESD 2030) and supports the Green Economy Agenda by fostering green innovation and enterprise development in both school and community contexts.
Green Schools aim to holistically integrate sustainability into all aspects of education—teaching, learning, culture, and infrastructure—so that students become active agents of change. Through hands-on, action-oriented learning experiences, students are empowered to contribute to building a sustainable and peaceful future.
